Adobe Photoshop Express Online Service Now Available

Adobe has released Adobe Photoshop Express, it’s online consumer-grade photo editing and storage program. Unlike other versions of Photoshop (and Photoshop Elements), Photoshop Express is completely Flash-driven and resides solely in your web browser rather than on your computer’s hard drive.

The Beta version (available now) allows you to create a free account and store up to 2GB of photos online (JPEG, no larger than 10MB each). It offers easy sharing between popular sites such as Facebook, Picasa, and Photobucket. Flickr should be added to that list soon.

The photo editing tools include:

  • Crop & Rotate
  • Auto Correct
  • Exposure
  • Red-Eye Removal
  • Touchup
  • Saturation
  • White Balance
  • Highlight
  • Fill Light
  • Sharpen
  • Soft Focus
  • Pop Color
  • Hue
  • Black & White
  • Tint
  • Sketch
  • Distort

Following suit with other professional level programs such as Lightroom and Apple’s Aperture, the edits performed in Photoshop Express are non-destructive, meaning that you can return the photo to its original imported state even after making multiple corrections and saving them.

Images may be shared on other sites or displayed in online albums and slideshows.

According to Adobe, the project will shed its beta status in the next six to twelve months. It will remain free for basic users after that time, but will offer a subscription service for features such as additional storage, display options, and image editing tools.
